Year-End Wrap-Up: 2015 Here We Come!

2014 has been a fantastic year, and 2015 is looking even better!

December has been an exciting month on the Spicer front – among other things, John has officially finished recording his debut album, Crossing Over! Soon enough the album will be mastered and ready to take over the world. A HUGE THANK YOU to photoeveryone who has been involved in the creative process!

John was recently able to play Crossing Over in its entirety for legendary Grand Funk Railroad frontman, Mark Farner who had this to say: “After listening to the entire album, I can tell you – John Spicer is 100% USDA country… The album is a movie!”

Good stuff!

IMG_6273In addition to finishing the album, John has also just finished shooting his first official music video. The video is targeted for release in early January to support his chart-climbing debut single, “Pretty Good At Lovin’ You.”

“Pretty Good At Lovin’ You” has quickly become “the little record that could” – after ten weeks on the radio waves, it is now listed at #11 in Most Added on the Music Row charts. Since its initial “soft” release, the track has moved up to position #53 on the Music Row country charts, with 32 stations nationwide now playing the tune.

But that’s not all!

“Pretty Good At Lovin’ You” has also been picked up by ABC’s drama series “Resurrection”! The track will be featured in a key scene, coming soon in the new year!

John himself has nothing but high hopes for the next 12 months:

“2015 is going to be a very exciting year for everyone involved with this project,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of momentum built up in so many ways, and I’m pumped to see where it leads us!”

Happy Holidays, and see you next year!

From Legend Group Records: John’s Debut Single Featured On CDX Volume 607!

John Spicer’s debut single, “Pretty Good At Lovin’ You,” is featured alongside tracks from Darius Rucker, Toby Keith, and Alan Jackson.

CDX has been providing new country music single releases to radio stations around the globe since 1991.

“Pretty Good At Lovin’ You” will now be going out to just over 1700 U.S. radio stations, 350 international outlets, and all major internet radio stations!

Country music industry insider Jim Della Croce calls “Pretty Good At Lovin’ You” the “ass-kicking icebreaker single” of John’s debut album, a track that will let the world know about John’s fresh sound. This track will give people a little glimpse of the record and insight into John as a singer, a songwriter, and a great guitar player.

“It’s a daring single to release because it’s a little jazzy/bluesy in places,” said Houston Curtis. “This whole record is daring, because it takes you on such a journey.”

“After tracking 27 songs at Capitol Studios’ famed Studio A, and doing all the finishing and mixing at The Mothership Studios, we found that choosing which single would introduce John Spicer to the world wasn’t an easy task!” Curtis continued.

“John is a very special artist, and producer Tom Fletcher, along with John and our team, have put together a very special record. Ultimately,  we decided Pretty Good At Lovin’ You was a great way to kick off the John Spicer journey both musically and lyrically, and we’re excited to see how country music fans react.”

High Praise

Among those fans are many industry insiders, including the legendary Merle Haggard, who is about to be named Billboard’s Artist of the Century, who had many wonderful things to say about John Spicer, including: “He may be what we’ve all been looking for.”

The Legendary former president of Atlantic Records, responsible for the careers of such artists as Led Zeppelin, ACDC, ABBA, Genesis, Foreigner and Michael Jackson to name a few, had this to say about John Spicer:

“I think most people would agree that I’ve maintained a pretty good track record for picking winners in my career… and I can honestly say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that John Spicer has to be one of the most most promising artists to come along in decades.  His prolific songwriting, golden voice, and incredible musicianship is everything a star is made of and more.”

Multi-platinum record producer/engineer Tom Fletcher was recently quoted saying, “John Spicer is the artist I’ve been searching for my entire career to produce. An artist of this caliber only comes along once every 20 to 30 years if you are lucky. Having the faith of both John and the label has been the greatest honor of my career.

When asked what he thinks about all of this, artist John Spicer simply replied, “I’m just happy to be here and thank God  every day for surrounding me with people who believe in me and are giving me the opportunity to share my music with the world.”

Congratulations to our rising country star!

Legend Group Records is pleased to announce that our country singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John Spicer now has an official artist page on!

John was formally endorsed by the world’s leading maker of guitars and musical instruments in January of this year – but his relationship with Fender began when his fingers first hit the strings.

John has been playing Fenders for as long as he’s been playing music, and he couldn’t be happier to be an official representative of the brand – and to claim his spot on the Fender website beside names like Jim Adkins and John Mayer!

John owns a total of 10 Fender guitars, as well as one dobro and a banjo. He has added six Fender instruments to his collection since January – but he’s just getting started! Check out his artist page on for a list of his favorite Fender gear.
